Changing Cultural Times

It has been a long time since I've last written anything but I've my job to blame, can't find the time to do anything else. That's a story for some other time but I am writing this to share something which is bothering me after watching "Ye Jawani Hai Deewani".

Last week I went with a very close school friend of mine to watch that movie at Kaushambhi, Ghaziabad, UP. The mall had ample space but the multiplex was small and reminded me of old auditoriums that utilises the small space by placing a lot of seats at very daring heights. To top that the stairs leading to the seats were higher than any other multiplex that I've ever been. I don't know how our elders would cope with them. And the seats were a pain in the back and ass. I was really hoping that the movie was worth all of this.

It started all good, till the time Ranbir Kapoor said this line "Paisa to haath ka maail hota hai (money is for spending)". Dude you are a rich brat but that doesn't mean that you should promote this generation to not to save money for hard tides and spend it all on holidaying. If we follow suit the above said mantra then our dear friend "recession" can always happily come back to haunt us all (GOD forbid that). Then the second most annoying thing that was portrayed by his character was that he neglected his family completely, to the point that he wasn't even there when his father was being cremated coz he was busy taking a tour in the mountains. And he didn't even bothered coming home after he came to know about his father, simply great. I am not against following your dreams, careers and keeping yourselves happy but not at the cost of your family. As no matter what we achieve or how big we become, family was there & it'll stay with us no matter who we are.

I don't know what is the problem with Bollywood that even after 100 years of making movies, it can't take it's head out of its ass and see that there are other many stories that are worth sharing & inspiring people rather than just 2-people-madly-in-love-with-each-other-&-going-rogue-against-their-family-or-society kinda movies. And if Bollywood is so keen on serving the same century old dish to us, the least it can do is to inspire us all to be better human beings by showing small act of random kindness towards each other.

Other than the above said points, the music, choreography, direction, acting, & locations of the movie are great. Rest the movie is nothing more than a one time watch, time pass movie. I would give it a 2.5/5 rating. 1/2 star extra just for the amazing locations where the movie was shot at.
